Ben Aston Fun Finder

I find serious things exhausting. So in addition to the pursuit of purposefulness, I like to play.

I’m a great believer that there is no such thing as too much fun. And if you want to play with me, that would be great.

By way of inspo, here are some of the ways we could play together.

Biking with Ben Aston

From a young age, if I wanted to go anywhere, I could either cycle there, or not go. After a few decades, I realized I quite enjoyed it.

I recently had my bike stolen, but weirdly, the thief kindly left his really naff mountain bike so I’ve recently been discovering that not riding on roads is also fun.

Snowboarding with Ben Aston

I like going fast. Snowboarding (and more recently skiing) seem to be a good way to do that.

And Cypress Mountain sunsets are the best. Always.

And you’re probably wondering why I’m wearing a whistle. It’s because I got stuck once in a tree and it was scary. So I always say safety first, or at least somewhere towards the top 10 priorities.

Swimming with Ben Aston

I love the water, particularly when there are waves. I might not be able to float very well, and I really only breathe on one side, but I’m pretty sure swimming is as close as you can get to flying without wings. So I like it. One day it’ll make me really buff too.

Larping with Ben Aston

For better or worse, (OK, definitely worse) I learned advanced sword skills from watching Robin Hood aged 8.

I was then able to teach my brothers and mercifully, neither of them sustained any major injuries. Apart from that one time when I was showing my brother how sharp my knife was and cut him.

Since that minor incident, I’ll be honest, I’ve done this just once, but it was fun. And I’m not really a larper, but I do like the word.

Larp on.

Beekeeping with Ben Aston

Beekeeping (and now swarm catching) is a fairly new endeavor. It’s simultaneous rewarding and frustrating as the longer you do it, the more you realize you have yet to learn.

But I like honey. And I like the fact that bees make food for you. That’s very kind of them to offer.

Beeking requires protective clothing and please come prepared to get stung anyway. Somehow, it nearly always turns out that way.
