The time of living at 10 Ericcson Close is sadly at an end. For those of you that I forgot to tell, today I’m off to Vancouver, (via India, HK and Australia) to begin a new life as a bear hunter.

I rather suspect next time I’ll be living at number 10, it’ll be when I’m Prime Minister.

Can’t wait.

It’s always nice to showcase a bit of local Wandle Creek talent.

Tom Jenkins from The Theory, based down the road in Wandsworth, has come up trumps with his latest stop motion animation film. Featuring music by the excellent Cinematic Orchestra, the film is about a lonely desk toy who longs for escape from the dark confines of the office so takes a cross country road trip to the Pacific Coast in the only way he can – using a toy car and Google Maps Street View.

Peachy.

This starts off a bit weird, grows on you, and then becomes totally amazing. If I did all the things I thought I thought I was capable of doing, then this would probably be the result. And I’d probably be dead too.

Chuck Norris would be so proud.

Probably the biggest news from Facebook’s f8 conference is a totally redesigned Facebook profile page based on telling ‘the story of your life’ over time, through something they’re calling Timelines; strangely reminiscent of Nokia’s Lifeblog app or HTC’s Footsteps app. There’s a fundamental shift; Facebook isn’t just about statuses any more, it’s about stories. According to Zuckerber, it’s ‘The story of your life.’

Responding to a lot of the criticism that Facebook is boring and un-engaging, they’ve tried to re-create some emotional engagement with Facebook by creating tools to enable people share their important ‘Life Events’ such as getting engaged, buying a home, getting a pet, or even breaking a bone. Interestingly, they’ve also given people more of a chance to express their personality with a bit of ‘MySpace-ing’ by allowing people customisation of the look of their profile page with a huge header banner.

Timelines haven’t been rolled out to hoi polloi, but if you’re keen to try them out, you can get a sneaky preview by following the instructions described here.

It’s always nice to know that someone’s reading the Truffles & Nuggets I’ve created. Although not an issue I’ve struggled with many times before, supposing I were to be quoted as an authoritative source, how should I be cited?

Loser.

It’s a bit like a dancefloor for your fingers.

I’m probably misunderstanding what it does, but it looks like the perfect instrument for someone who’s really good at tapping. As it happens I’m very good at tapping so the Novation launchpad is probably what I should be asking for, for Christmas this year. You can read all the blurb about it on Ableton’s website but it doesn’t really do it justice.

Today I was a (Sponge) Bob along with the Nickelodeon crew at Tesco’s Help for Heroes triathlon at Downey lake, Eton, the rowing venue for the 2012 Olympics.

I got the longest leg of the Olympic distance triathlon, cycling. Despite a nasty headwind, I managed an average speed of 18mph over the 24 mile course bringing me home in 1hr 22mins.

Might have to find another way to get to the Olympics next year.

A bit nerdacious, but when you’re trying to keep an eye on the wife’s emails, this makes it much easier. Now you don’t have to log out of your account before logging into hers.

I’d resolved not to blog until I’d found this video again. And I have, so here it is. It’s Gardyn by Pogo, the stage name for Nick Bertke, a dude who dices, splices and autotunes sounds, then pieces them all together to make a choooon with some pretty video too. I’d watched of his Disney cartoon remixes before but this one was different – using real world sounds from a garden; tapping, scrapping and brushing bits and bobs, combined with his mum’s voice he creates an amazing soundscape that feels beautifully l’ete.
